About this Typewriter

This is one of my prized typewriters. I acquired it from and elder woman who was the daughter of the original owner. Her father was a Lawyer who bought it brand new in 1947. According to the woman, her father used the typewriter for his professional work and it was well loved.

Included with the typewriter was the original purchase receipt as well as a certificate of guarantee and business card for the Royal Typewriter company in Wichita, Kansas. It also included service receipts up through 1969.

This typewriter is much more advanced than my Royal varsity. It has an exceptional amount of features. Something I’ve noticed about typewriters of this era is how well they run in modern times. A lot of later models from various brands don’t type nearly as smoothly and it’s incredibly addictive to type on them. The 1940s era of Royal really seems to be the high-point for typewriter quality from what I’ve seen so far.

Unresolved Issues

When I acquired it, it needed some light cleaning from ink buildup and a new ribbon.

Absolutely none, this thing was maintained extensively and is in absolutely perfect condition. In fact any mistakes you see on the example page are from me mistyping because I was having too much fun typing fast. It has exceptional clarity for a typewriter with a smooth actuation and light feel.
