About this Typewriter

This is the typewriter that started it all… Originally I was searching for the history of the typeface Courier, and I had learned that it was developed specifically for the IBM Selectric. So I decided it’d be really cool to have a Selectric of my own. I originally wanted a Selectric I, but this Selectric II showed up on Craigslist for $100. I drove down to Dallas to pick it up. Then I came back up and took it to a local typewriter repair shop. For another $150 they fixed it up and I had a working Selectric. From there I used it as my primary means to write letters, but as I used it, I found it was incredibly cumbersome to use and took a lot of space. So the search was on for something a bit smaller… Which eventually lead to the collection I have today.

Unresolved Issues

I think several years of sitting around have left it needing some small adjustments. Unfortunately while I can fix most of all the other typewriters, this one is a bit too complicated, so I’ll need to take it in.
